About the Artist
Irmgard Geul is a frequent visitor and exhibitor at The Vault Art Space and Gathering Place. She was the first artist to kick off with a solo exhibition when the gallery opened her doors in 2017.
Born and raised in The Netherlands, Irmgard Geul grew up in a rural town south of Amsterdam. She received her art degree at the HKU University of the Arts in Utrecht/The Netherlands (1981-1986) and has been an artist since, supported by several jobs in graphic and fashion design. From 1993 to 2013 she made a sidestep in the equine industry and established an international shipping company named Nedpoint Quarter Horses, bringing her from The Netherlands to Oklahoma.
Her Technique
Her mixed media / embroidery paintings are a self explored technique where she applies embroidery and stitching over acrylic paintings on paper, to create depth and a visual perspective.
Her work is constantly evolving in the urge to map her memories and to tell the stories of her adventures around the world and about rural Oklahoma where she has an art studio on a horse ranch in Pauls Valley, her home since permanently moving from The Netherlands in 2003.

Irmgard’s work was recently featured in the Artist Alliance and the ArtNxtLevel Community, the Curbside Chronicle, The Pauls Valley Democrat, The Norman Transcript, Art Focus Oklahoma, Oklahoma Today, Artsy Shark and on PBS OETA/Gallery America. Irmgard Geul’s artwork has been in group and solo exhibitions in galleries throughout the U.S. and Internationally. She has private and corporate collectors around the world and gallery representation in the USA.
