“I love doing what I love, for people who love what I do”
That may seem an oversimplification, but painting provides gratification like nothing else in my life and my spirit is elevated when someone buys my art.
I am a traditional landscape artist. I paint in oil and try to push the levels of detail and color saturation in my work as far as I can. This allows me to paint vibrantly colored landscapes and coastal scenes while my attention to detail draws me to cityscapes that capture a city’s architecture at a precise moment in time and to capture a structure’s detail that might otherwise be overlooked. And perhaps my guilty pleasure; painting commissions. Portraying someone’s vision on canvas.
Her Journey
Ms Nelson realized a life goal to study painting in 2013 when she began oil painting studies under Carol Armstrong in Norman, Oklahoma
She was honored at the Students of Carol Armstrong (SoCA) Exhibition in November of that year by winning “Best in Show” for her first original oil painting, “Point Cabrillo Lighthouse”. In addition to SoCA Exhibitions, she was a featured Artist at Norman’s McClain Bank Monthly Invited Artist Program in 2015. She was also asked to exhibit her art at the annual After Hours Norman Chamber of Commerce Art and Wine event in 2016 and invited back for 2018 and 2019. In 2017 she was selected for the Norman Firehouse Art Center Adult Talent Exhibition. She has also participated at Norman Art Walk events in 2017 and 2018. In February 2018 she launched her web site for K Nelson Fine Art and created her Facebook page in 2019. From June 7 – July 9, 2018 she exhibited 23 of her original oil paintings at The Vault Art Space and Gathering Place in Pauls Valley, OK as one of three artists in the gallery’s “Wanderlust” Exhibition and returned for their “Treasures from the Vault” market in December 2018. In May 2019 she participated in the 2019 Downtown Edmond Arts Festival and joined the Norman Art Guild.
Her art can be seen on loan at Benvenutis in Norman and is available for sale and on consignment through The Vault Art Space and Gathering Place in Pauls Valley, OK. The artist maintains a website and a FaceBook page under KNelson Fine Art.

Her Beloved Rescue Pets
Ms. Nelson lives in Norman with her two beloved rescue pets, Mocha, a chocolate Lab mix and Mojo, a brindle haired Great Pyrenees.
