“With an education in design and years of experience as a furniture maker, I came to the art of ceramics first with an intellectual curiosity; studying the history of form and glazes for years before getting my hands muddy. I found the transition a natural one. Clay would be a more “manageable” vehicle to express my art, while the creative process – inspiration, visualization, actualization and reflection – remained the same.
“I am a hand builder using slab construction, a technique that allows for freedom of form, and contrast of shapes, colors, and textures. I appreciate the sense of balance, harmony, and delight when these elements come together.
